"The Art of Science" exhibit opens with lecture

Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 "The Art of Science" will feature original art, insect specimens, 19th-century scientific equipment and rare books borrowed from the collections of Historic New Harmony, the Working Men's Institute, the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, Museum d'Historire Naturelle du Havre, and other institutions. Installed in the historic Scholle House at the corner of Tavern and Brewery streets in New Harmony, the exhibition will be a new addition to the Historic New Harmony walking tour. Friday, April 9 Opening Lecture Ritsert Rinsma, author, historian, and Lesueur scholar, will present "The Impact of William Maclure, Thomas Say and Charles-Alexandre Lesueur on New Harmony and the World," at 7 p.m. at Thrall's Opera House. The exhibition will be open to the public before the lecture from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 10 Explore "The Art of Science" exhibit and stop by the opening reception at the Scholle House during the New Harmony Spring Art and Antique Stroll from 4 to 7 p.m. Go to www.newharmony.org or call 812/682-4488 for more information about the lecture and exhibit.
