Reception recognizes Bent Twig Trail improvements

Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 Mrs. Rice was a member of the Westwood Garden Club, which oversaw the development of the Bent Twig Outdoor Education Center and the USI Bluebird Trail in the 1970's, during Dr. Rice's tenure as president. Several hundred student volunteers worked to refurbish the trails this summer. The Service Learning Program (Dr. Anne Statham, director) facilitated several work days on the trail in cooperation with Physical Plant staff, faculty, and community volunteers. USI employees who worked on the project include Don Fleming, grounds supervisor, members of his staff, and Dr. Chuck Price, professor of science education. Davie Sue Wallace Litov and Bonnie Bittner of the Vanderburgh County Soil and Water Conservation District, which donated plants to the project, also attended the reception. |
