New schedule of noncredit classes begin in May

You can learn a foreign language, how to plant a summer herb garden, or how to use social networking to make business connections. Do you know why the Dalai Lama always smiles? Find out in the Intro to Buddhism class where you will discover how millions of Buddhists around the world utilize the Buddhist distinctive philosophy and practice to achieve peacefulness and happiness in daily life. Rev. Thich Hang Dat, a Vietnamese Zen teacher, who will also offer a Meditation 101 class, will instruct the course. Have you ever wanted to learn the basics of sailing? Check out the weekend Sailing School course and learn how to properly rig and sail in normal wind conditions. Sailing terms, proper sail trim, stopping a sail boat, mooring and docking, and man overboard will also be covered. Looking to add a little excitement to your summer? Nathan Holmes of Vertical eXcapte Climbing Center and Outdoor Store will lead outdoor adventure trips in canoeing, white water rafting, and flat water kayaking. Need help with Microsoft 2007? Sign up for one of the many computer courses and learn about programs such as Excel, Access, and Word. Other computer class offerings include Internet for Fun and Learning, Computers for the Home, Using Windows, and more. Programs for children including an art workshop, Archicamp, and Bug Camp, will also be offered. Noncredit courses are open to anyone, regardless of educational background. Courses are presented in a noncompetitive and informal atmosphere where interest in learning is the primary consideration.
