Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 Dr. Chuck Price, professor of science education and an amateur nature photographer, has found much to inspire him on the campus. His USI Natural Beauty project includes 50 images in the University Archives on the second floor of Rice Library. Twenty more, currently on display in Room 3105 of the Education Center, will be added this week. Three from the first set were chosen from the archives for display in the President′s Home after Dr. Linda L. M. Bennett was appointed president. "That was a really nice honor. I appreciated it," Price said. The project was funded by a Faculty Research Creative Work Awards Price received between the mid-90s and 2009. The first set was archived with FRCWA grants between 1993 and 1995, when Price became chair of the Department of Teacher Education. "In 2005 I went back to teaching and had more time to devote to other projects," he said. "In 2009, I got an additional grant and proposed to add more for a total of 70 images in the University Archives." View the 70 images here. "We have a campus of magnificent natural beauty," Price said. "These projects are a way of sharing that and making people more aware of it. It′s a tremendous asset." |
