Erika Myers-Bromwell Director of New Harmony Gallery of Comtemporary Art 812/682-3156 The exhibition "Objective Memories" asks the question, "What objects have defined your life?" Even in a world where consumerism and mass production are prevalent, seemingly everyday objects arouse memories from the depths of our subconscious, awakening once forgotten moments and associated people, places and emotions. D'Uva and Russell have masterfully fabricated prints and photographs corresponding with their own memories and suggesting a wondrous collection from the past. Joseph D'Uva is currently assistant professor of art at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Art Institute of Chicago, and his master's degree and Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa. D'Uva has exhibited around the United States and in Italy, Scotland, Germany, Mexico, Chile, and Macedonia. Prior to teaching at Youngstown, D'Uva taught in the printmaking program at the University of Southern Indiana. Jacinda Russell is assistant professor of photography at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Russell received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boise State University and her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona. She has exhibited nationally and is represented in collections at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, Arizona and at Reed College, in Portland, Oregon.
