USI's Entrepreneurship Certificate program begins July 6

Brandi Schwartz Marketing Coordinator Outreach & Engagement 812/464-1854 The program consists of eight sessions beginning on Tuesday, July 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Innovation Pointe in downtown Evansville. Sessions will continue on Tuesdays throughout July with the program ending by mid-August. Some weeks may include a second session on Thursday evening. Phase one of the program will include five interactive skill-building sessions. Participants will learn how to define an opportunity, build an idea, formulate business strategies, plan implementation, and monitor progress. Phase two of the program will raise awareness of commitment and resources needed to start and operate a successful business. Participants will be introduced to day-to-day challenges a business owner could face. Session topics will include financial concerns, securing funding, legal issues, employment concerns, marketing, and entrepreneurial experiences. Program speakers will include a CPA/small business owner, corporate attorney, commercial banker, area entrepreneurs, and more. A two-hour fair highlighting resources available to business start-ups will conclude the program. Enrollment is $450 space is limited to 12 participants. Displaced Whirlpool employees will be assisted in applying for funding through WorkOne.
