Interim dean of Extended Services named
Linda Cleek
Cleek will fill the position held by Dr. M. Edward Jones, who will serve as senior advisor to the president on Outreach and Engagement from July 1, 2010, until his retirement in July 2011. Formerly the associate director of Extended Services and conference coordinator, Cleek was named associate dean in 2002. She joined USI in 1974. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from USI. Cleek said, "The University of Southern Indiana has been my employer and my passion for most of my adult life, and I am proud to have the opportunity to serve in this new role. I am also looking forward to working with the new dean when that person joins USI Extended Services. My goal has always been, and always will be, to facilitate lifelong learning for the largest possible number of people in a wide range of subject areas, physical locations, and formats, while serving the University to the best of my ability." Rochon expressed his confidence in Cleek's leadership ability. "USI serves more than 16,000 people yearly through programs in Extended Services. Linda's leadership ability and her caring attitude toward offering programs to fit the needs of people of all ages will serve us well." |
