Assistant vice president for Marketing and Communications appointed at USI
Todd Wilson
Todd A. Wilson has had professional experience in communications management, journalism, public relations, and marketing. A resident of Irvington, New York, he owns a communications consulting and freelance writing and project management business. As director of Communications at Sarah Lawrence College and earlier at Colorado College, he planned and directed college outreach particularly in support of fundraising and recruitment of students. He also served as the primary college spokesperson and as editor or executive editor of college communications including an award-winning alumni magazine, various individual publications, and web sites. Wilson has experience in crisis communications and success in media relations, marketing, web, and other new media. Early in his career, he worked as a writer at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, editing the bimonthly news magazine and other publications. He also worked as a medical writer/editor at Indiana University for the IU School of Medicine and Medical Center. After graduating from Marion (IN) High School, he completed his undergraduate work at Indiana University-Bloomington, where he served as managing editor of The Arbutus, the IU yearbook, and reporter and columnist for the IDS, the University's daily student newspaper. He also worked as a reporter for the Marion (IN) Chronicle-Tribune and the Columbus Dispatch in Ohio. Wilson was a long-time member and chair of the Communications Committee for The Annapolis Group, a consortium of America's leading liberal arts colleges, where he helped develop the organization's web site and public relations professionals listserv among other projects. He also is a past member of the Colorado Springs Press Association and has presented and volunteered at CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) regional, national, and international conferences. He will direct all aspects of the marketing and public relations efforts for the University of Southern Indiana and report to Cindy Brinker, vice president for Government and University Relations. He will directly supervise USI's News and Information Services, Publishing Services, and Web Services departments. |
