Brandi Schwartz Marketing Coordinator Outreach & Engagement 812/464-1854 In the past, Day on the Bus has been industry oriented in order to reach faculty in business careers. This year, a new approach has been taken in order to reach different disciplines within the liberal arts field. By visiting the Vanderburgh County Jail, disciplines such as criminal justice, sociology, social work, and psychology will be reached. To date, over 200 faculty have participated in Day on the Bus. Past industry visits have included Alcoa, Berry Plastics, Deaconess, Innovation Pointe, Mead Johnson, St. Mary's, Shoe Carnival, and Vectren. "We are so pleased with the continued support of Old National Bank enabling our higher education faculty the opportunity to see 'within the walls' of important industries and vital organizations to our region," said Dr. Sue Ellspermann, director of the USI Center for Applied Research. "Our expansion to visit the jail reflects our commitment to engage faculty in areas of social services as well as business and industry support." Questions about Day on the Bus can be directed to Ellspermann at 812/461-5407. |
