Welcome Week is August 26-September 1

Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 -Convocation, the official welcome and induction of new freshmen and transfer students into the University community -USI Eagle Roundup, a picnic with faculty and staff -Programs on what students need to know about classes, academic support, and University resources -Meetings for campus residents, commuter students, and nontraditional students -A late-night event at the Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center with volleyball, swimming, ping pong, card and board games, basketball, and foosball -Student volunteers to help new students locate their classes -Movies, music, games, community service, and sporting events -USI's first Welcome Week Day of Service The complete Welcome Week schedule is posted at www.usi.edu/welcomeweek. The keynote speaker for the Convocation is Tracy Zeller '89, owner of Tracy Zeller Jewelry. Zeller graduated from USI with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. She serves on the Board of Directors of Community Marriage Builders and A Network of Evansville Women (ANEW), which presented her with the Woman of Action award in 2009. The Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana named her 2009's Entrepreneur of the Year. In spring 2010, Zeller was Alumni-in-Residence for the College of Business and received the Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Award. All new students are expected to attend the Convocation from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 27, in the Physical Activities Center. |
