To use Park and Ride, commuters park their vehicles in the parking lot by the vacant building that formerly housed Wal-Mart. The parking lot is located along University Drive, the access road between Rosenberger Avenue and N. Red Bank Road, just north of the Lloyd Expressway. The buses run every 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, dropping passengers off at the bus stop by the Orr Center. The service will not be offered on weekends or on Labor Day, September 6. The service is free of charge, and for the first week, free hot chocolate, coffee, and donuts will be provided for early commuters. Zimride rideshare community In an effort to reduce traffic, promote conservation, and provide cost-savings for students and employees, the University has launched a private online rideshare community at zimride.usi.edu. Zimride allows USI faculty, staff, and students to locate drivers or rides for their daily commutes or find one-time rides. You may sign up and post a ride, or just browse the site. Log on to zimride.usi.edu or read more about Zimride. Public transportation In addition, the Metropolitan Evansville Transit System (METS) West Connection shuttle runs between the Schnucks Transfer Terminal and the USI campus every 30 minutes from 7:15 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. The service is offered during the fall and spring semesters, when classes are in session. Navigating the roundabout If you are a new student and choose to drive to campus, be aware of the roundabout at the campus entrance. Motorists entering or leaving USI must remember to yield to oncoming traffic already in the roundabout on your left. Never enter the roundabout when a car is approaching. Directions for safety navigating the roundabout, instructional videos, and a downloadable brochure are online at www.usi.edu/roundabout. |
