Since 2001, Ruminer has donated 1,035 hours of her time to the USI community through involvement in USI Varsity Club events including the Steak Fry'n Auction, Fall Festival booth, Outback Luncheon, etc.
Mandi Fulton, coordinator for athletic outreach and events, said "Carolyn is a dedicated volunteer who never expects any type of recognition in return. She is always there when I need last-minute help. She gives her volunteer work the personal touch and her attention to detail is unmatched. The Department of Athletics and the USI Varsity Club are very fortunate to have Carolyn as a volunteer."
Yvonne Floyd is chair of the 2010 Varsity Club Steak Fry'n Auction. "Carolyn has been committed over the years to helping with the Varsity Club Steak Fry'n Auction, from getting donations for the live and silent auction and setting up the day of the event to picking up necessary items," she said. "No task is too big for Carolyn. She bleeds red, white and blue for the USI Eagles in every task that she performs."
As the 2010 Volunteer of the Year, Ruminer's name will be placed on the permanent plaque that is displayed outside of Carter Hall in the University Center.
