Interactive Lean Manufacturing Workshop coming to USI

Festo Didactic and USI's Pott College of Science and Engineering and Division of Outreach and Engagement/Extended Services will sponsor an Interactive Lean Manufacturing Workshop from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. November 2-3 in the Civil Engineering Lab in the USI Business and Engineering Center. FESTO Didactic is part of FESTO, a German industrial control and automation company. They are a worldwide leader in professional and industry-oriented qualification solutions for process and factory automation in the field of industrial training and vocational education.

Workshop participants will experience a fast paced iterative model of a real world "Synchro Corporation" environment. Objectives will include the lean thinking method and principles, seven big wastes, inventory reduction for increased productivity, pull principle for production control, and lean manufacturing vs. traditional production methods.

The workshop will introduce several techniques such as 5S's, Value Stream Analysis, Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), KANBAN, One Piece Flow, and the Continuous Improvement Process. Participants will implement these techniques in a real production system.

Registration is $495 and is limited to 15 participants.
