Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 The statistics are startling, but you can make a difference by supporting the United Way of Southwestern Indiana. United Way funds programs and services that lead to lasting, measurable change. The money that is raised here stays here to help families in Vanderburgh, Spencer, and Warrick counties. The University of Southern Indiana/United Way of Southwestern Indiana Campaign runs through Friday, November 5. USI employees received United Way campaign materials on Monday, October 25. Your money goes to 70 local programs in 33 agencies that are meeting critical needs in the community. United Way is committed to maintaining low administrative costs. Eighty-five cents of every dollar you give goes directly to services meeting critical needs of individuals and families in our community. Last year, 293 USI employees participated (22.6 percent), and donations totaled $37,276, a significant increase over 2008, in which donations totaled $28,000. By giving to the University's campaign, you also qualify to win a variety of prizes that have been donated from local businesses.
