Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 The week kicks off with a reception for international faculty, students, and invited guests in the McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries. The reception will feature a display of artwork by Noof Ali-Falahi, a student at Baghdad University's Academy of Fine Arts in Iraq. Ali-Falahi was one of 23 students in the Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program at USI during summer 2010. Her work will be on view in a display case in the Liberal Arts Center through mid-December. "We wanted to incorporate the Iraqi project into International Education Week," said Jacob Minniear, program assistant in the Office of International Programs and Services, which sponsors International Education Week. "It was a very successful program and we want to keep that spirit alive." Tuesday, November 16 Study Abroad Lunch & Learn: Osnabruck, Germany, 11:30 a.m., Carter Hall, University Center. Hear business, health professions, and language students who have participated in a summer study program in Osnabruck discuss their experiences, learn about German culture, and try traditional German cuisine. Free, open to the public. Global Community: "Learn Don't Burn," 7:30 p.m., Ruston Hall Multipurpose Room. A discussion of Islam by Dr. Mohammed Ishfaq Hussain, a member of the local Islamic Center. Co-sponsored by Religious Life. Wednesday, November 17 Multi-Lingual Poetry Reading, 3 p.m., David L. Rice Library Second Floor Reading Room. Students will read poetry in all the languages taught at USI. Co-sponsored by the Department of Modern and Classical Languages. International Gift Sale, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., University Center. Purchase handcrafted items which help to promote fair wages and human dignity through Catholic Relief Services. Co-sponsored by the Newman Club and Religious Life. Thursday, November 18 "Labyrinth for the Spirit," presented by Jim Buchanan, 3 p.m., Forum III, Wright Administration Building. Buchanan is artist-in-residence at the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art. A reception will follow the program. Co-sponsored by Religious Life. Friday, November 19 International Extravaganza, 7 p.m., Carter Hall, University Center. Latin music and dancing, international games, food. Co-sponsored by Activities Programming Board. The International Trivia Contest will be held throughout the week, with clues posted on bulletin boards in Housing and Residence Life areas.
