Photographer Michael Pugh to lecture November 18

Sarah Harlan Administrative Associate News & Information Services 812/465-7005 Pugh worked in the Office of the President as a student photographer while at USI. After college he worked as a newspaper photojournalist. Later he worked for nine years with United Press International covering United States Presidents, top sporting events like the Masters, Super Bowls, NCAA Championships, and NASCAR. He earned Georgia Photographer of the Year honors three times. Since 1983 he has owned his own photography business, Michael Pugh Photography. He covered nine Olympic games and six Olympic Torch Relays. Pugh said, "In all of the hundreds of different assignments that I've had the opportunity to shoot, my Olympics experience has been extensive." The audience will view slides from his collection and meet the photographer whose creativity and ability go beyond average photo shoots. "This is a lecture students who are interested in photography, advertising, marketing, and public relations should not miss," said Kathy Funke, director of News and Information Services. She worked with Pugh at USI in the mid 1970s. |
