PE Department faculty and students recognized at the 2010 IAHPERD Conference

STUDENT PRESENTERS Sallie Jung, Thomas Lovvorn, and Michael Gibbs were student presenters and their topic was "The Implementation of a Golf Scramble." Students Cassie Parsley, Kyle Gengelbach, and Justin Fehn presented "The Development of a Sport Management Club." STUDENT AWARDS The Physical Education Department is also proud to announce there were three student award recipients. Jason Boyles was the recipient of the prestigious Catherine Wolf Award. This award recognizes scholarship, leadership and service qualities in students majoring in physical education. Justin Cortez was the recipient of the Jean Lee/Jeff Marvin Collegiate Scholarship Award. The award was established to recognize outstanding undergraduate students preparing for a career in health, physical education, recreation, dance and allied field. Finally, Jillian Ward was the recipient of the IAHPERD High Scholarship Award, which was established to recognize outstanding high school seniors who enroll in an Indiana college or university to prepare for a health, physical education, recreation and dance and allied career. Ward chose the University of Southern Indiana Physical Education Department to pursue a major in physical education teaching. FACULTY LEADERS Dr. Renee Frimming, assistant professor of education, served as the Awards Committee chair and Dr. Guoyuan Huang, associate professor of physical education, was the program director of Higher Education |
