Users of Animatopoeia are presented with an intuitive interface displaying 15 different animals overlaid with flags from 11 countries. By touching the flags, users can hear the onomatopoeia of that animal from a native speaker. For example, users can hear the sound for a rooster in Vietnam, a lion in Venezuela, a duck in France, and many more combinations. Some of the animal sounds were voiced by USI international students. Patzer said the app is the first of its kind. "Animatopoeia was created to provide entertainment, encourage understanding of other cultures, and promote respect toward animals," he said. Animatopoeia is available for purchase in the iTunes App Store for $2.99. More countries and animals will be available in future updates for free. It includes high-resolution images for the Retina Display, High-quality AAC audio files, and iOS 4 multitasking support. TVM Financial Calculator, also developed by Orange Group Apps, allows users to solve "Time Value of Money" equations involving an equal series of payments over time. It is available in the iTunes App Store for $4.99. |
