"Know Your Status 2011" raises awareness about sexual issues

Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 Sponsored by Activities Programming Board (APB), SPECTRUM, HEAR, and the Black Student Union, "Know Your Status 2011" will kick off with "Let's Talk About Sex," a lecture by Christine Tolis, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, in Carter Hall in the University Center. There will also be a question-and-answer period, refreshments, and giveaways. All day on Wednesday, January 19, the sponsoring organizations will have information booths on campus where students can receive information about sexual diseases and win a free T-shirt. A lecture about HIV awareness will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 20, in Carter Hall. The lecture will address HIV in the 21st century and the importance of getting tested. Refreshments will be served. On Friday, January 21, free HIV testing will be offered in the Student Health Center, located in the lower level of the Health Professions Center. The first 50 people to get tested will receive a free T-shirt. All "Know Your Status 2011" events are free and open to USI students and the general public. |
