Erika Myers-Bromwell Director of New Harmony Gallery of Comtemporary Art 812/682-3156 Doris Murdoch, a former resident of Olney, Illinois, spent the past 40 years traveling the country and the world however, her passion for art jewelry only manifested in the past 20 years. Mostly purchased at art festivals, galleries, and museum shops throughout the Midwest, her extensive collection of art jewelry includes an eclectic mix of pieces made from silver, gold, copper, glass, precious gemstones, and more uncommon materials such as leather, Friendly Plastic, ancient coins, and Shrinky Dinks. Styles vary between modern and contemporary - geometric metalwork to pieces inspired by Native American weavings. The exhibition will include unique and handmade art jewelry pieces by 30 artists based throughout the United States. The New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is located at 506 Main Street in New Harmony, Indiana. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
