National honors for USI cheer team
The USI cheer team at the College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship.

Jessie Bowen Student Worker News & Information Services 812/465-1192 "The young team competed very well, and we are excited to start preparing for next year," said John Stuteville, head coach of the USI cheer team. This is the fifth year in a row the USI cheer team has attended the College Cheerleading and Dance team National Championship. The Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA)-hosted event was held in January in Orlando at the Jostens Center at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on the Disney properties. "It was truly the teams' personal dedication that got them this far," said Derrick Powell, a former USI cheer team member and current assistant cheer team coach.
