Jewelry-making workshops offered in New Harmony

Erika Myers-Bromwell Director of New Harmony Gallery of Comtemporary Art 812/682-3156 "The Basics of Jewelry-Making" will be taught on February 5. Rhoades will show students how to use beads to create almost any design and talk about current trends using leather cording and chains. Students should bring sharp scissors, round nose pliers and wire cutters. The registration fee is $40 and includes materials. "Bring in the Bling! Intermediate Jewelry Design" will be held on February 12. Rhodes will build on student′s existing jewelry-making skills by "upcycling" jewelry –“ reusing found objects and beads to make new designs. Students should bring jewelry from their personal collections, sharp scissors, round nose pliers, and wire cutters. The registration fee is $50. "Fabulous Findings! Advanced Jewelry Design," the final workshop on February 19, will enhance the students′ beading techniques and help save money with basic silver-smithing skills. Students will learn how to make their own head pins, earring findings, and basic clasps. Students should bring sharp scissors, round nose pliers and wire cutters. The registration fee is $50 and includes materials.
