College of Business alumnus in residence to focus on global competition

Betty Vawter Senior Editor, News & Information Services 812/480-1873 Christian is a sales representative for Asia and Australia in the International Operations Department of Red Spot Paint and Varnish Company in Evansville. He travels frequently throughout his designated territory, devoting much of his time to managing a joint venture in South Korea and supporting affiliates throughout China. His presentation as alumnus in residence is titled "The Lion and the Gazelle: Can you outrun the competition?" The title is based on an African parable. During his senior year at USI, Christian completed a six-month internship in international sales with Red Spot. He joined the company full-time in May 2007 upon graduation. Christian majored in business administration with an emphasis in international business. He studied in Heidelberg, Germany, and traveled independently in Europe during summer 2005. In summer 2006, he completed an internship in sales at Millennium Steel Service in Princeton, Indiana. Christian serves on the board of directors of the Tri-State World Trade Network. He is a member of the Tri-State Manufacturers' Alliance and active with that organization's Global Peer Group. He also is a member of the Young Professionals Network, a program of the Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana. An avid runner, he is a member of the Greater Evansville Runners and Walkers Club. He was a volunteer for the Evansville Half Marathon training program sponsored by the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana. He will serve as a volunteer for the 2011 Southern Indiana Classic Marathon. |
