USI women's basketball is "Thinking Pink"
The USI women's basketball team
Along with other programs from around the country, USI will be participating again this year in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association "Pink Zone" initiative to raise awareness for breast cancer on campuses and in communities. Players will be shedding their traditional home white uniforms for pink uniforms and shoes and are asking fans to join them in their mission by wearing pink to the game. In order to ensure that the PAC is "packed in pink," the Evansville Susan G. Komen Foundation will be selling a limited number of "Pink Zone" T-shirts at the game for $10. All proceeds from the T-shirt sales will go directly to the Evansville Susan G. Komen Foundation. "We are so excited to again be participating in the 'Pink Zone' initiative," USI Assistant women's basketball Coach and Senior Women's Administrator Randa Dallas said. "Many of our players have had family members affected by this disease and they wish to raise awareness in our community to help others who are fighting this disease." "It is important for all female athletes to support the breast cancer awareness movement," said USI women's basketball player Amie Newhart. "So many of us have been affected by this disease and we want to do anything possible to give back and support the survivors and the community."
