Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 The production is co-sponsored by the USI Philosophy Club, H.E.A.R., Spectrum, and USI Gender Studies. Dr. Mary Lyn Stoll, producer of the production and advisor to the Philosophy Club, encourages everyone to attend. "Too often men don't think they belong at The Vagina Monologues, but we need everyone on board if we are going to help stop violence against women and girls. We are especially hopeful that more people will get to see the show this year since we have moved to a bigger venue and added an extra performance." Tickets are $5 and may be purchased in advance. Email mlstoll@usi.edu to acquire advance tickets. Ninety percent of proceeds from the performances will be donated to Albion Fellows Bacon Center and 10 percent to the V-Day spotlight campaign. Albion Fellows Bacon Center provides 24-hour hotline service for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. The center serves 11 counties and provides its services confidentially and free of charge. The center also can provide shelter and help with legal advocacy to the victims of abuse. This year's V-Day spotlight campaign is on the women and girls of Haiti. In conjunction with the performance, the Philosophy Club and the USI Counseling Center will co-sponsor a teach-In on "The Women of Haiti" at 7 p.m. Monday, February 21, in the quiet lounge at the Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center. Evansville residents who have done relief work in Haiti will share their experiences and there will be a presentation on the work of Haitian V-Day activist Merriam Merlet, who died in the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. The teach-in is free and refreshments will be provided. To learn more about V-Day USI, contact Stoll at 734-755-1497 or mlstoll@usi.edu.
