Student trustee applications available

"The USI student selected will have a voice on the nine-member USI Board of Trustees, bringing a student's perspective to the governing board," said Hope Fussner, chair of the Student Trustee Screening Committee and president of the Student Government Association. To be eligible to apply, a person must - be a full-time student in good standing - have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 - be able to commit to a two-year term on the Board - be a United States citizen and resident of Indiana - have completed 24 semester credit hours at USI by the time of appointment (July 1, 2011). To be considered for an interview, a student should complete an application, write a 300-word essay addressing why he or she is interested in the position and what he or she can contribute to the Board of Trustees, and provide a resume. Three letters of recommendation will be required. One letter must be submitted by a member of the USI community, one by a faculty member from whom the student has taken a class, and the third by a personal or professional reference who is not connected to USI. Applications are online at www.usi.edu/trustee, along with more details about the process and the position. Applications also are available in the office of the Dean of Students, UC 1229 in University Center East.
