She will trace the history of the Khitans and their contacts with the Islamic world using newly identified sources on Khitan trade, which show that information reached the Islamic world soon after the formation of the Khitan state. The presentation is free and open to the public. The Medieval Studies Forum was created in 2006 for faculty, staff, students, and the community to gather to learn about a variety of medieval topics ranging across disciplines such as literature, art, history, gender studies, and material culture.
