Jessie Bowen Student Worker News & Information Services 812/465-1192 USI's News and Information Services spoke with several students Thursday afternoon at the UC East grand opening to learn USI students' reactions. Sam Miller, public relations and advertising and French major, said, "I was excited for UC East to open because I heard we were getting new restaurants. I love the atmosphere because it is cozy and welcoming, and I often eat and study at UC East." Kylie White, senior international studies major and SGA administrative vice president of Research and Development, said, "There has been a huge impact on SGA since we have moved into new offices located in UC East. Our old office was so small and cramped for the number of people who are in SGA. With our new offices we have more room to work. We now have a space to hold our executive meetings. SGA's office is in a better location because it is easier for students to locate, and I feel that the whole building is geared towards the students." Nicole Marrs, senior public relations and advertising major, said , “I thought the cone was a little unnecessary before seeing the inside of UC East, but now I love it. I particularly like the new restaurants and the decor." Laura Everest, sophomore advertising major and member of SGA, said "I like that the SGA office moved to the UC East. It is a lot nicer and there is a lot more space. UC East provides a great place to hang out between classes and I really like Traditions Lounge." Allen Robinson, senior health administration major and member of APB, said "I was a little skeptical of the cone in the beginning but I'm happy that APB moved their office to UC East and I love the added space." Michael Lauer, sophomore history major said , "My favorite parts about UC East are the two new restaurants. I spend a lot of time in the new portion of the UC and I eat at Salsa Rico and Cyclone Salads about three times a week." Nicole Cunningham, senior business management major and member of Colleges Against Cancer (CAC) said, "I like that it has a really modern look. UC East is a good place for students to hang out with friends or study." |
