Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 Greek Week offers a week of competitive, philanthropic, and social events planned by USI fraternity and sorority members. It is a week to celebrate being Greek, build unity among the Greek community, and show chapter pride. During Philanthropalooza, USI students and employees are encouraged to visit the USI Labyrinth in front of the Liberal Arts Center, where the Interfraternity Council (the governing body USI fraternities) and Panhellenic Council (which governs USI's sororities) will collect donation letters for St. Jude's. "I'm excited to raise money for the children at St. Jude through Philanthropalooza," said Emily Pedevilla, executive vice president of the Panhellenic Council. "This event will showcase the unity of the Greek community. I am excited to see what creative efforts our chapters will develop." Opening ceremonies for Greek Week will be held Sunday, April 3, in Carter Hall in the University Center. Throughout the rest of the week, members will participate in a variety of activities, including a blood drive, cook-out with sand volleyball, community clean-up, and the Greek Olympics. The most anticipated event of Greek Week is the Dance Competition, one of several events in which chapters compete to win Greek Week Points. The Dance Competition is open to the campus community and admission is $1, with proceeds benefitting the Jamel Lewis Education Fund in memory of Jeron Lewis. Will Hooper, president of Kappa Alpha Order, said, "The Dance Competition is a great way to see all of the creativity throughout Greek Life. All of the sororities and fraternities put in so much work, and it's awesome to see what they come up with."
