Five USI students named Outstanding Future Educators

Betty Vawter Senior Editor, News & Information Services 812/480-1873 The following students will be recognized April 1 at a luncheon in Indianapolis. - Brooke Carter of Boonville, Indiana, is an elementary education major with a minor in reading. She is a student teacher at Newburgh Elementary School in Newburgh, Indiana. - Amanda Hopkins of Evansville is an elementary education major with a minor in reading. She is student teaching at West Terrace Elementary School in Evansville. - Kyle Scott of Newburgh majors in French teaching. He is a student teacher at North High School in Evansville. - Eric Tharp of Portage, Indiana, majors in mathematics teaching. He is completing student teaching at Central High School and Helfrich Park Middle School in Evansville. - Travis Tison of Evansville is an elementary education major with a minor in physical education. He is a student teacher at West Terrace Elementary School. All five of the students will graduate in May. They were chosen for the Outstanding Future Educator Award based on recommendations made by faculty in the USI Department of Teacher Education and University supervisors of their student teaching. IACTE is a professional organization of colleges and universities with undergraduate and/or graduate programs to prepare professional educators. It is an affiliate of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE). |
