Poet Adrian Matejka to deliver RopeWalk Reading April 7

Brandi Schwartz Marketing Coordinator Outreach & Engagement 812/464-1854 Matejka is the recipient of the Kinereth Gensler Award for his first collection of poetry, The Devil's Garden. His second collection, Mixology, was a winner of the 2008 National Poetry Series and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award. He is the recipient of two Illinois Arts Council Literary Awards and his work has appeared or is forthcoming in Southern Indiana Review, American Poetry Review, The Best American Poetry 2010, Gulf Coast, Pleiades, and Prairie Schooner among other journals and anthologies. Born in Nuremberg, Germany and raised in California and Indiana, Matejka holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He is currently an assistant professor of English at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville where he was awarded the William and Margaret Going Endowed Professorship and serves as the poetry editor for Sou'wester. Presented by USI's College of Liberal Arts, the RopeWalk Visiting Writers Reading Series is made possible through the support of RopeWalk Writers Retreat, Southern Indiana Review, USI Society for Arts & Humanities, National Endowment for the Arts, Indiana Arts Commission, and USI Student Writers Union.
