Shirey named president-elect of national nursing organization

Shirey is serving a second consecutive term, continuing through June 30, as chair of the board of that group. ABNS is a nonprofit organization focused on improving patient outcomes and consumer protection by promoting specialty nursing certification. ABNS member organizations represent more than a half million certified registered nurses worldwide. Shirey also is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, American Nurses Association, American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Midwest Nursing Research Society. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. Shirey joined the USI College of Nursing and Health Professions in 2009 after four years as an adjunct faculty member. She also is a healthcare consultant in the areas of leadership development and building professional practice environments of nursing excellence. She earned a doctorate in nursing science from Indiana University. |
