Filmmakers Club MayDay Film Festival is April 29

The USI Filmmakers Club will hold its third annual MayDay Film Festival at 7 p.m. Friday, April 29, in Kleymeyer Hall in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Center.

A reception and awards ceremony will follow in Carter Hall in University Center West. Judging will be performed by a panel made up of a USI faculty member, USI student, and member of the community. Awards will be presented for best picture, best actor and actress, best visuals, etc.

Ten to 15 short films produced by USI students and filmmakers from throughout the region will be screened. Student filmmakers include Ryan McCurdy, Derrick Taylor, Joe Barniak, and Daniel Hiatt. Regional filmmakers include Kevin Chenault ("Young Islands"), P.J. Starks ("A Mind Beside Itself"), and Jakob Bilinski ("Foxxy Madonna vs. The Black Death.")

Admission is free and open to the public. There will be free popcorn and drinks as well as a raffle and door prizes.
