Performing Arts presents short play "R.A.W. ("Cause I'm a Woman)"

R.A.W. stands for "Raunchy Asian Woman." The play is a 20-minute spoken cantata meant to explode stereotypes Asian woman are subject to such as that of the geisha, the exotic virgin, or the suicidal Miss Saigon. The women are portrayed by USI faculty members Stephanie Young, assistant professor of communication studies, Yu-Li Alice Shen, instructor in English, and Pei Cheng Wei, instructor in Chinese, as well as USI student Joyah Brooks, and was directed by Dennis Black, instructor in theatre.
