Quiroz named GLVC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Quiroz paced the 36th-ranked Screaming Eagles to a 4-0 record last week, including wins over the GLVC's University of Missouri-St. Louis, the University of Indianapolis and Lewis University. The Eagles also defeated 41st-ranked Ferris State University in a non-conference match. Last week, Quiroz was 4-0 at number two singles and teamed with senior Diego Gimenez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) to go 4-0 in doubles play. He is 16-5 overall in singles this season, including an 8-0 mark in dual matches. Quiroz has recorded a 13-6 doubles record this season with three different partners. USI (11-5) completed its GLVC schedule with a 4-1 record and has clinched a spot in next week's GLVC Tournament. The Eagles currently sit in second place in the GLVC East Division standings. They face Olivet Nazarene University and DePauw University in non-conference action on Saturday. Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Indianapolis' Trevor Cox, Lewis' Uno Lapimaa, Missouri-St. Louis' Andreas Hammar, Northern Kentucky's Pierce Kohls, Quincy's Rodrigo Marroquin and Rockhurst's Rodolfo Gauto-Mariotti.
