USI to host two-day Interactive Lean Manufacturing Workshop in May

Brandi Schwartz Marketing Coordinator Outreach & Engagement 812/464-1854 Facilitated by Daniela Vidal, program coordinator for Advanced Manufacturing, workshop participants will experience a fast paced iterative model of a real world "Synchro Corporation" environment. Objectives will include the lean thinking method and principles, seven big wastes, inventory reduction for increased productivity, pull principle for production control, and lean manufacturing vs. traditional production methods. An introduction to several techniques such as Value Stream Analysis, Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), KANBAN, One Piece Flow, and the Continuous Improvement Process will also be covered. Participants will have an opportunity to implement these techniques in a real production system. Registration is $595 and includes materials, lunches, and refreshments.
