Eighteen University of Southern Indiana students majoring in science, engineering, or mathematics have been selected for the third class of the Early Undergraduate Research Program offered by the University's Pott College of Science and Engineering. The students are completing their freshman year.

Funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, the program is designed to engage students interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields in hands-on research early in their academic careers. Students pursue research in Pott College facilities with a faculty mentor for two summers and may continue the relationship during the intervening academic year.

Participants attend weekly seminars to present research updates and learn from guest speakers representing area business and industry. The program also includes tours of area STEM industries. Students receive a $3,000 stipend for each summer of participation as well as room and board in campus housing.

The following students and faculty research leaders will work together in ongoing research projects for eight weeks beginning May 9.
