Choate named GLVC Player of the Week

The weekly honor is the second for Choate, who was named the GLVC Pitcher of the Week earlier this year. Choate hit four home runs while going five-for-seven in the two contests. He recorded seven runs scored and 10 RBIs in addition to walking four times and stealing a base. In Southern Indiana's 11-10 win over Lewis on Sunday, Choate was two-for-two with two home runs, four runs scored, three RBIs and three walks. He paced the Eagles in the second game by connecting on a first-inning grand slam and finished the contest three-for-five with three runs, seven RBIs, two home runs, a walk and stolen base. USI took the nightcap, 20-4. Choate, who is pursuing a master's degree in public administration, entered Monday's games at Lewis with a .330 batting average, 32 RBIs, 28 runs scored, 10 doubles and five home runs.
