Women of USI honored by YWCA

Sarah Harlan Administrative Associate News & Information Services 812/465-7005 Sixteen University of Southern Indiana alumnae, current faculty/staff, and retired faculty/staff were among the women recognized. Nearly 200 nominations were received after the YWCA invited the community to nominate women whose contributions to the community have made a lasting impact in their fields. A committee of men and women from various community organizations selected the final list of 100 women which includes educators, social reformers, philanthropists, business leaders and passionate volunteers. "The accomplishments of these 100 women are outstanding. Their hard work, passion, and generosity have created and supported institutions, reforms and social services that have molded Evansville into the great city that it is today," said Erika Taylor, CEO of the YWCA. The following women were among those honored: Patty Avery '04, radio and television Vaneta Becker '94, political science Dr. Linda Bennett, president of USI Dr. Nadine Coudret, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions at USI Dr. Mary Dentino '80, business education Luzada Hayes '90, social work, M'95, Master of Social Work Kim Hermann '79, administrative systems Suzanne Nicholson, director emerita of Development at USI (deceased) Holly Dunn Pendleton M'07, Master of Business Administration Betty Rice, USI First Lady, 1967-1994 Kathy Schoettlin '92, communications Lisa Seif M'06, Master of Social Work Sherrianne Standley, vice president emerita for Advancement at USI Trudy Stock '86, accounting Daniela Vidal, program coordinator, Advanced Manufacturing at USI Tracy Zeller '89, accounting An achievement dinner will be held on June 23 at the Scottish Rite to further commemorate the legacy.
