Raku workshops coming to the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art

Brandi Schwartz Marketing Coordinator Outreach & Engagement 812/464-1854 Led by Lenny Dowhie, USI professor emeritus of art, and other visiting artists, workshop participants will receive basic instructions on how to work with clay and raku fire. Students will make, fire, and glaze their own pieces and test works of clay. Those wishing to enroll may register to attend one or both of the workshops. Here are the schedules: Workshop one Friday, August 5, 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Workshop two Friday, August 12, 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is $50 per workshop and includes materials, firing, and instruction. No previous experience is required to register, although familiarity with clay is helpful. Students must attend all workshop sessions scheduled during the workshop they select.
