Sabrina Harpenau Student Worker News & Information Services 812/465-1192 "After completing a class, especially introductory courses, students aren't interested in keeping text books," said Mike Goelzhauser, Bookstore manager. "They rent the book, take the class, and send it back." The rental program is more cost efficient for the typically tight student budget. Whether shopping online or in the Bookstore, at checkout, if rental copies are available, a student will have an opportunity to save 55 percent through renting. "If a book costs $100 to purchase, students can rent the book for $45," said Goelzhauser. "The program gives students an option to save money on a required book." For the student who prefers the digital route, e-books and similar digital devices are an additional less expensive way to obtain textbook information from their laptop, desktop, Nook Color, iPad, and similar digital devices. Students can print pages on demand, search, and tote a lighter version of a hefty textbook. E-books are typically 30 percent cheaper than buying a hardcopy textbook.
