Sarah Harlan Administrative Associate News & Information Services 812/465-7005 Business, industry, government, and non-profit employers will participate in CareerLINK, as will some graduate schools. Those looking for full-time professional positions, part-time work, internships, or co-ops will be interested in CareerLINK. The event is open to all current students and alumni of USI. "Students benefit from meeting directly with employers that are on campus to specifically recruit USI students," Philip Parker, director of Career Services and Placement, said. "They are impressed with the caliber of USI students and graduates, and therefore, want to visit campus to connect with them." Parker recommends students attend the job fair and interact with recruiters and hiring managers face-to-face. "Students often express their concerns, when meeting with us for career and job search strategy advice, that applying to jobs and internships online leaves them feeling disconnected oftentimes because they may not receive a response and may not be able to determine the status of their application,"Â Parker said. "Many times they have no contact with someone at the potential employer. CareerLINK allows students and graduates to meet specific representatives from the companies and organizations." There are several steps students can take to make the most of CareerLINK. For tips on how to best prepare for a job fair, click here. "This event is not only a job fair," Parker said. "We encourage students to see it as an event that enhances their professional network." For a complete list of companies, organizations, and graduate schools registered for CareerLINK, click here. |
