Chris Baumgart Student Worker News & Information Services 812/465-1192 Bouldering is a form of rock climbing two to five meters off the ground that does not involve the use of ropes and harnesses. Climbers will be allowed to attempt a climbing route as many times as needed for completion in the allotted time. Scores will be based upon completion of the routes. The competition will be preceded by a mandatory meeting at 12:30 p.m. to review the rules and expectations of the competition. The bouldering competition will start at 1 p.m. and is expected to last until 3 p.m. or until all competitors are finished. An awards ceremony will follow at 3:30 p.m. The competition has two divisions: beginner and intermediate for both men and women. Climbing level will be determined on the day of the competition. The RFWC does not have a set limit for the competition, but would prefer to keep competitor numbers to 25 or less. Sign-ups for the competition are only online at IMleagues.com. Prizes will be given out for each participant, and prizes will be awarded for the top three places in each class (Beginners-Men, Beginners-Women, Intermediate-Men, Intermediate-Women). Sign up early as the competition is expected to fill quickly. |
