Sabrina Harpenau Student Worker News & Information Services 812/465-1192 Nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report in all 10 categories of specialty, Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health cares for 80 percent of Indiana's adolescents diagnosed by cancer in Indiana. For 85 years, it's been the only comprehensive care facility for children in Indiana. Building off goals set by USI Dance Marathon founder Chelsea Taylor, the committee hopes to generate excitement from the awareness raised on campus to make this event successful every year. To conjure a more competitive spirit, the 2011 Dance Marathon will have a slight twist. The committee is inviting teams to sign up for the nonstop dancing event. "The name Dance Marathon tends to make some people nervous, but being a good dancer isn't required" said Dance Marathon President Laura Everest. Dancers are asked to keep moving for six hours of games, a line dance lesson, and testimonies from Riley families. Registration for this event is set up through We Pay, an online donation web site. Participants are invited to sign up as a team or individually. The registration fee is $10, but dancers are encouraged to help raise more funds for Riley Children's Hospital. Dancers are encouraged to visit http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=104693596238996 for more information. For questions about registration, contact Everest at lmeverest@usi.edu or Nick Mathis, chair of the recruitment committee at nickmathis2@gmail.com. |
