USI picked third in East by GLVC coaches

USI, which is coming off a 24-6 overall record and a 14-4 conference mark, collected 83 points in the East Division that also features Bellarmine University, Kentucky Wesleyan College, the University of Indianapolis, Lewis University, Northern Kentucky University, Saint Joseph's College, and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Preseason top-ranked and defending NCAA Division II National Champion Bellarmine was picked first with 113 points and 15 first place votes. KWC was selected for the second spot by one point over USI with 84 points and one first place vote. NKU (73 points) was picked to place fourth, while Lewis (60 points) filled the fifth slot. The coaches put UIndy (53 points) in sixth, while Saint Joseph's (26 points) and UW-Parkside (20 points) were seven and eighth, respectively. Drury University took the top spot in the West Division with 113 points and 15 first place votes. The Panthers were followed by Quincy University (96 points) the University of Missouri-St. Louis (84 points) William Jewell College (62 points) Missouri University of Science and Technology (46 points) the University of Illinois Springfield (42 points) Rockhurst University (39 points) and Maryville University (30 points). UMSL also received a first place vote. The Eagles start the 2011-12 campaign with an exhibition game November 6 at Purdue University. The USI regular season tips off November 13 at the Physical Activities Center when the Eagles host Ohio Dominican University.
