The students are working toward becoming fully-trained members of a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). The nationally recognized training program equips citizens with skills and equipment they can use to respond to any hazard, disaster, or emergency. Classroom trainings and demonstrations have been conducted by Jerry Bulger, maintenance supervisor in USI's Physical Plant, John Murphy, CERT trainer for Vanderburgh County, and Sherman Greer, emergency manager for Evansville and Vanderburgh County.
If you're interested in portraying a victim, or for more information on CERT training, contact Lee Ann Shafer, academic program manager with Outreach and Engagement, at 812/464-1879 or email@example.com.
