USI Veterans Day Observance will include display, movies, and more

Brandi Schwartz Marketing Coordinator Outreach & Engagement 812/464-1854 Events will include snacks and a display of military memorabilia in University Center East from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a flag ceremony on Centennial Court located between the Wright Administration Building and the Health Professions Center at 11 a.m. A free lunch will be provided to USI student, faculty, and staff veterans and service members from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in The Loft. A military identification card is requested to receive the lunch. Reservations must be made by noon on Thursday, November 10 by contacting Outreach and Engagement at 812/464-1989 or outreach@usi.edu. A series of military films will also be shown throughout the day in the University Center, Rooms 2217-2218. The schedule includes: 8:15 a.m. - Letters from Iwo Jima 11:30 a.m. - We Were Soldiers 2:30 p.m. - Restrepo, followed by a panel discussion by USI faculty, staff, and student veterans 5 p.m. - Hurt Locker Individuals and groups who would like to participate, or who have items to exhibit, should contact Kim Armstrong, administrative associate in the Division of Outreach and Engagement, at 812/464-1829 or kaarmstron@usi.edu. This event is funded through Project Eagle, an initiative to develop programs and policies designed by the University to boost the academic success of student service members and veterans on campus. |
