University of Southern Indiana senior middle blocker Danielle LaGrange (Santa Claus, Indiana) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Year in an announcement made by the conference office at the annual GLVC Volleyball Awards Banquet Thursday evening.

LaGrange, who was named the AVCA Division II National Player of the Week earlier this season, is the first USI volleyball player since Shannon Wells in 2002 to earn GLVC Player of the Year honors and the third in the history of the program - Sheri Kaiser was named GLVC Player of the Year in 1992 and 1993.

A graduate of Heritage Hills High School, LaGrange led the Screaming Eagles during the regular season in kills per set (3.82), points per set (4.55), blocks per set (0.85), and attacking percentage (.337). LaGrange also finished second in the GLVC during the regular season in points per set, fourth in kills per set, fifth in attacking percentage, and 10th in blocks per set.

This marks the second consecutive year that LaGrange has earned first-team All-GLVC honors. She earned first-team All-Midwest Region by both Daktronics and the AVCA in 2010.

LaGrange, who ranks eighth all-time at USI with 1,106 career kills and first all-time with a .325 career attacking percentage, also was named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Division II Academic All-District IV first team Thursday. LaGrange, who has a 3.55 cumulative grade point average, is majoring in kinesiology.
