Committee Reports
2) Nominating Committee Report
iii) Dave Huebner said that the nominating ballots are in the mail and
also be emailed on Friday. Dave will be out of town, Mandi Fulton and Darren
Shelton will gather them and get the voting ballots ready to be sent out in
two weeks.
3) Economic Benefit Committee
iii) Sandi Migonis stated that there was not a meeting.
iv) She did say that the report from Human Resources said that the budget
just arrived and will be available in two weeks.
4) Employee Relations Committee Report
iii) Lois Stevens reported that Archibald’s closet is in need of canned
meats and fruit. Ruth Cutteridge from the counseling center has volunteered
to work on the closet.
iv) The volunteer sheet went around for help watering and weeding, our
adopt-a-spot. Don Fleming will let us know when planting day is and will
provide everything we need.
v) Lois Stevens said that family time with the eagles was a success. The
winners are listed in the committee notes.
vi) Lois Stevens also reported that the plans for the USI Employees
"Beach Party" are falling into place and it looks like a good time for all.
If it rains, all hands on deck are needed to move the party to Carter Hall.
vii) Employees will be giving their names to their building coordinator
to be submitted for the door prizes.
5) Old Business
iii) Don Broshears said the he had received a complaint from an employee
relating to the PERF Program and the issue remains that employees cannot
make voluntary contributions in that program as an individual.
iv) Karen Anderson also voiced a complaint about the smokeless tobacco
issue on campus. The issue will be forwarded to Human Resources.
Sandi Migonis stated that Darlene Fisher (Human Resources) is still
waiting to hear from the smoking committee. The issue of smokeless tobacco
use on campus will be added to the request. Perhaps instead of "no smoking",
we should campaign on "no tobacco use".
Sandi M. also reported that Molly McConnell (Human Resources) said that
an HR representative is available upon request whenever an employee needs to
schedule a meeting. It is the consensus of Staff Council that the
announcement should come from Human Resources to the employees of the
university that they are indeed available before or after hours as needed.
6) New Business
iii) Water Outage on campus is an issue that has come to attention of
Staff Council. Without water it becomes a health risk for students,
employees, and visitors of the university. There needs to be an emergency
plan in place for additional adequate water or close campus.
7) Terry Martin motioned to adjourn the meeting at 11:10 a.m. and Terri
Schafer seconded the motion.
