PRESENT: Karen Anderson, Becky Ball, Debbie Clark, Mandi Fulton, Barb Goodwin, Ginny Hall, Linda Harmon, Chris Jines, Kathy MacGregor, Phyllis Oeth, Lois Stevens, Debbie Strueh, Sally Townsend, Terry Young, Jalane Weber, Darlene Fisher.

The September meeting was called to order by Debbie Clark at 10:05 a.m.

Ginny Hall made a motion that minutes of the August meeting be approved with changes, seconded by Becky Ball.

ECONOMIC BENEFITS:No meeting was held in September.

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS: Flyers were distributed for the food drive which will be held Oct 5 from 7:30 until 9am. A sign up sheet was circulated for Staff Council members to work during these times. Shopping carts will be donated for use by Schnucks to move the donations from the collection to Archibald Food Closet in the UC. Coaches and athletes have volunteered to help and signs will be placed along the Blvd. to direct traffic to the drop off point by the Orr center. Personal hygiene, paper products and certain food items are especially needed.

Adopt a Spot mulching will be at 9:00 am on Sept. 30.

The committee is looking at ideas for recognizing employees. They are considering an “employee of the month”, possibly through nominations.

A survey form was distributed to Staff Council suggesting several special interest groups. Ideas such as book club, dinner club, etc were suggested. Secretaries and Associates Club is considering something similar so that group will be contacted before the survey is sent to employees.

OLD BUSINESS: Barb Goodwin agreed to form a committee to look at any changes that need to be made to the by-laws.

A few pictures of Staff Council members are still missing from the web page. A request was made for those missing to have pictures taken.

The new flyer for Staff Council which is being put in new employee packets was given to those present.

Name tags for Staff Council members look feasible.

NEW BUSINESS: Darlene Fisher reported on insurance benefits. Several companies including those presently covering employees have been contacted and negotiations are still in progress. Good claims utilization by USI under the Anthem policies will help in determining the rates for next year.

Performance appraisals are coming in. Reminders have been sent to all who have still not completed forms.

HR coordinator position has been offered to Kimberly Greenlee who will begin on Sept 28. She will be our contact person for the Mentoring program for new employees.

The next meeting will be on October 25 at 10:00am.

A motion was made by Debbie Strueh and seconded by Chris Jines to adjourn meeting at 11:05.
